Senator Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari

Senator Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari represents Zamfara West Senatorial District and serves as Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 election cycle. His journey began in grassroots party organisation in Zamfara, continued in the House of Representatives from 2007 to 2011, and led to two terms as Governor from 2011 to 2019. As Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum from 2015 to 2019, he worked with governors across party and regional lines on the shared responsibilities of state leadership.

His governorship brought investment in roads, schools, hospitals, water supply and rural infrastructure. The record includes the Talata Mafara bypass, the upgrade of General Hospital, Bakura, the Gamji water project, Abubakar Tunau Model Primary School and improvements at Government Girls College, Talata Mafara. These projects sit alongside a wider commitment to connecting communities, supporting girls’ education and making essential services more accessible to families across Zamfara.

Today, his public work connects Senate representation with practical support for people: tertiary scholarships, specialist eye-care outreach, farm inputs, food assistance and help for families rebuilding after the Gummi floods.
